The trend towards multimodality

The main trend in the organization of transport and forwarding services at the present stage is the development of the principle of multimodality. This type of service involves the transportation of goods by different modes of transport (road, rail, sea, air) using transshipment terminals, where cargo is transshipped.

In July this year, the warehouse infrastructure of the enterprise was supplemented with a multimodal terminal in Brest. This TLC "Brest-Beltamozhservice-3" has implemented a unique advantage of the Belarusian transport system: the presence of wide and narrow formats of the railway track. Containers are reloaded from European gauge (1435 mm) to Belarusian and Russian broad gauge trains (1520 mm) or vice versa and transported to their destination. The location of tracks and warehouses provides not only for transshipment from wagons of one gauge to wagons of a different gauge, but also transshipment from wagons to vehicles and vice versa, both by direct option and with storage in warehouse areas.
