Digitalization seen as key to successful development of logistics in Belarus

Digitalization in logistics, transport and other industries topped the agenda of an international conference at Beltamozhservice, BelTA reports.
The conference brought together the scientific community, industry experts, representatives of international companies, including logistics operators and cargo owners from Belarus, as well as companies operating in the CIS, the EAEU and China who joined the event online.

“We plan to discuss a number of issues, including the transformation of digital corridors, improvement of logistics in Belarus, new routes, as well as legislation. Our ultimate goal is to make logistics an advanced and robust industry in our country,” said Beltamozhservice First Deputy Director General Aleksandr Skachkovsky.

“Digitalization is playing an increasingly crucial role in logistics today. Without it, we would not be able to carry out transactions and do paperwork in the field of transport and international transportation. Our company pays much attention to software products, development and design of software solutions. Logistics operators should have an opportunity to use electronic documents. This helps speed up paperwork, transactions and delivery of goods. Thus, Beltamozhservice was the first company to organize the supply of goods to the EAEU space using the international electronic consignment note e-CMR as part of a pilot project,” the first deputy head of the company informed.

In his opinion, goods should be delivered transparently, quickly and at the right time as part of the efforts to promote the international logistics chain. “Our company is running pilot projects of various levels using its software products. In particular, we are working with Russia on the delivery of goods using navigation devices. Such software products allow online tracking of goods along international corridors and carrying out transactions electronically,” Aleksandr Skachkovsky said.

He noted that the first level implies digital corridors of the EAEU countries. The possibility of developing such modern digital solutions in all countries that are friendly to Belarus is under consideration. “Thus, today's conference will allow us not only to discuss and map up certain steps to promote digitalization throughout Belarus, but also to exchange best practices with other countries. When we reach the international level, we will be ready to work with all types of transport and documents,” he said.

Beltamozhservice is Belarus' largest logistics operator. It is a 4PL operator that facilitates delivery of goods to any country in the world, using all types of transport available on the market.
The international conference “Digitalization in logistics, transport and other industries” was organized under the auspices of Beltamozhservice and its branch Beltamozhizdat for the first time.
