TAX FREE: how to save money on purchases
In many countries of the world, a VAT refund mechanism is applied to foreign citizens for purchased goods, which helps to increase the attractiveness of trade and the development of tourism.
We explain what points it is important for a foreign citizen-non-resident of the EAEU to remember when making purchases in the stores participating in the Tax Free program in Belarus:
1. make a purchase for more than 80 bel rubles within one day in one store participating in the Tax Free program;
2. check out a VAT refund check in a shop participating in the Tax Free program (passport and cash receipt are required) and get a special envelope;
3. receive a customs stamp (confirmation of the export of goods) within 3 months fr om the date of purchase;
4. receive money.
You can get money:
1. on a bank card within 30 days by sending a Check for VAT refund by mail within 6 months or by dropping it into a box at the checkpoint;
2. in cash at the National Airport "Minsk" in the duty-free shop MarketLiga, located at the National Airport "Minsk", or in one of the branches of JSC "JSSB Belarusbank" located at the customs clearance points on the border with Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine.
The refund amount is 15% of the purchase amount without VAT (or 12.5% of the purchase amount indicated on the cash receipt).
More than 900 stores are connected to the Tax Free system, wh ere you can buy various goods - from jewelry, clothes, shoes and ending with household appliances.
At the same time, there is an increase in demand for domestically produced goods, which encourages Belarusian enterprises to connect their retail facilities to the Tax Free system. As a result, retail turnover increases the competitiveness of products increases, their attractiveness for foreign tourists, as well as brand awareness in the world market.
