Automatic release of goods: regulatory framework and practice

Considering the history of the development of customs administration, it is worth noting an important stage in the transition from paper customs declaration to electronic one. Currently, over 99% of all customs declarations are already submitted in electronic format. With the development of technology, the ability to carry out customs operations in an automatic mode without the need for the involvement of customs officials is gradually becoming increasingly important.

After the automatic release of goods, the information system automatically notifies the declarants of the decision made in relation to the goods. In the event that any of the criteria for automatic release is not passed, such a customs declaration is sent for general consideration to the officials of the customs authority.

The transition to automatic release of goods is associated with the development of appropriate technology and certain criteria for automatic release, as well as the refinement of software products used by the customs authorities.
