Buying profitably: TAX FREE in Belarus

In Belarus, you will be able to make successful purchases not only for yourself, but also buy excellent gifts and souvenirs for friends and relatives by filling out a VAT refund check. The operator of tax-free service in in the Republic of Belarus is the company “Beltamozhservice”.

A number of large department stores, such as TSUM, GUM, a network of jewelers and other stores are functioning under the Tax Free system.

Thus, in 2022 the largest number of VAT refund checks was issued by the chain stores “Luch”, jewelry stores “Beluverlirtorg”, “ZIKO”,Tsarskoe Zoloto”, and “Zolotaya mechta”, branded shoe stores “ECO” and “Marko”, branded women’s clothing stores “Elema”, as well as department stores “GUM”, TSUM Minsk and “Dom Torgowli Lida”.

Today there are two ways of refunding through the service Tax Free.

1.Cashless transfer to the bank card

How does it work?

The client enters the data of the bank card to which the amount of the VAT refund will be transferred. The bank card number must be 16 digits, the current account number should not be entered. Only international bank cards Visa and MasterCard issued to a foreign person are eligible for refund. The completed Tax Free check should be placed in a special envelope by the buyer and placed in a box at the customs office or mailed free of charge within 6 months after the export of the goods from any country. The refund will be made within 30 days from the receipt of the Tax Free check in RUE “Beltamozhservice”.

2. In cash

The buyer receives the refund in cash only at the national airport "Minsk" in the duty-free shop “MarketLiga” or in the offices of JSC "Belarusbank", located at road checkpoints on the state border.
