“We have the great privilege to live and work in a beautiful country. Today we are together and united in choosing a strategic course towards the development of a strong, sovereign, peaceful and prosperous country – our dear Belarus. We cherish the historical memory, protect the cultural heritage, and appreciate the achievements of science and art, bow, before the deeds of the heroes of our Motherland. We send our message to the future with the firm belief that you will preserve and multiply all the constructive achievements of our generation, reach new heights and make our dear country even more beautiful”.
His Eminence Archbishop Dmitry of Vitebsk and Orsha gave his blessing to this noble undertaking.
Vladimir Orlovsky, Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus, said during the ceremony: "The main sanctions for our carriers concerned upon the ban on entering the territory of the EU. Due to the decrease in cargo traffic fr om this direction, a part of our business has been reoriented to logistics via the Russian Federation. As a result, the role of the eastern direction and the eastern regions is growing, which makes it necessary to actively develop logistics. The head of the SCC pointed out: "The northeastern region - Vitebsk - is very important in this area. There is only one logistics center in the Vitebsk region - in Bolbasovo, Orsha district. In Vitebsk itself, our northern capital, there is no such center. Its development was already planned, but we have accelerated it. It will combine all the best practices and technologies of the largest logistics operator RUE Beltamozhservice, which has already built 10 transport and logistics centers.
Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Vitebsk Region Alexander Subbotin said: “We will do our best to realize the prospects that the construction of this complex will open up for our region. We hope that, sooner or later, the political madness around our country will end and we will be able to successfully trade, including with Western partners. That is why the construction of the terminal is an important contribution to our future”.
The new transport and logistic center “Vitebsk-Beltamozhservice” will be built near an important transport route of the country – the M8 (at the junction with the R21 near the Voronovsky ring in the Vitebsk region). This road is part of the Pan-European transport corridor that runs the “North-South” direction and connects Belarus, Russia and Turkey. The new center will also allow for processing of cargoes moving in the “East-West” direction.
In the future, the new terminal will provide additional opportunities for multimodal transportation, as it will be built near the airport of Vitebsk and the Vitebsk railway hub.
TLC under construction is a newly created complex of immovable property, which includes an administrative building with a warehouse complex and an open area for large-size goods and vehicles, engineering structures to ensure the operation of the facility, parking lots. It is planned to organize a temporary storage warehouse, customs and public warehouse in the warehouse complex.
At the terminal "Vitebsk-Beltamozhservice" all kinds of transport and logistic services of the highest level will be provided, which will allow the facility to become an important link in the logistic system of Belarus and to be integrated into the promising international logistic routes. It is also planned to organize a customs clearance point for cargoes.
The project implementation period is 36 months.
